I am a transfer student from Korea, and I started studying at MGSA in 2014. I was interested in art since I was young, and I pursued my dream though high school. I am majoring in visual arts with a focus in design. I decided to focus in design because it is a very broad area where I can explore and work in different fields. My final goal is to do design works that are related to animals. My thesis project is helping me to move a step forward in my career.

The number of animals being adopted is increasing every year. However, the number of animals being abandoned is also on the rise. Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats. Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized. This animation shows how pets meet families that think as their forever family, but because of human’s irresponsibility and greediness, animals have to suffer emotionally and physically. By doing this project, I wish people will learn about the responsibility of having companion animals and that it requires a lot of obligation because it is about having a new family member, not having a toy.
