This is a weekly event, you can always join Rick Anderson\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=35+Berrue+Circle+Piscataway+Township&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear=Berrue+Cir,+Piscataway+Township,+Middlesex,+New+Jersey+08854&amp;t=m&amp;z=16&amp;vpsrc=0&amp;iwloc=A\">35 Berrue Circle Piscataway Township<\/a>, Thursdays 8 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The size of the printer is 6 in. x 8 in. x 6 in. so largest module of your design should not exceed these dimensions. Printer uses\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Acrylonitrile_butadiene_styrene\">ABS<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Polyvinyl_acetate\">PVA<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Polylactic_acid\">PLA<\/a>. These filaments are available in limited colors and our makerspace is not carrying them all but you can take a look to all availbel colors from makerbot\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/store.makerbot.com\/filament\">store<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Basically the printer reads from a software called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.makerbot.com\/makerware\/\">MakerWare\u00a0<\/a>allowing to read from an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ennex.com\/~fabbers\/StL.asp\">.stl<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wavefront_.obj_file\">.obj<\/a>\u00a0file. You should prepare your model in of these formats.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.123dapp.com\/123D\">Autodesk123D<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tinkercad.com\">Tinkercad<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0seem to be the most commonly used software for this purpose but as a designer I would also suggest using\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhino3d.com\">Rhinoceros<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pixologic.com\/zbrush\/\">ZBrush<\/a>. Rhinoceros has already started a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhinofablab.com\">RhinoFabLab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most popular and free 3D drawing software is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sketchup.google.com\/download\/\">SketchUp<\/a>, actually it doesn&#8217;t really save or export .stl but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.makerbot.com\/google-sketchup\">here<\/a>\u00a0is a tutorial to convert from prepared by makerbot.<\/p>\n<p>For inspiration and watching some modalities and limits you may spend some time on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\">THINGIVERSE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-acb1911\" data-id=\"acb1911\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>3D printing event at makerspace, last Thursday was fun and inspiring.
