Have a passion for design and sports? Want to add real world projects to your developing portfolio? Rutgers University Athletics is currently looking for a graphic design intern(s) for the Fall 2013 semester to assist in the development of the Rutgers Athletics brand. In exchange for class/VAP credit, you’ll gain valuable design experience creating work for advertisements, ticketing, publications, product apparel, and social media announcements for many of the Scarlet Knight teams.

Extremely flexible hours Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign required Understanding of sports and Rutgers Athletic teams preferred Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed

Signs seeks on-campus intern

Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society, the preeminent academic journal of women’s and gender studies, seeks an art intern. Art interns work on the cover design, update the website and work on images that appear in the journal. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and/or InDesign is required. Web programming skills is preferred. Preference is given to students with an interest in scholarship on issues of gender, race, nation, class, and/or sexuality.

Art interns are responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include: Designing the cover; developing brochures and other promotional materials; researching the work of contemporary women artists and proposing cover art; updating the Signs website; preparing images for publication; evaluating artwork submitted to the journal and corresponding with artists.

Internships are five hours per week.
The position is unpaid.
Art interns are listed on the journal’s masthead.

Fresh Blood IV

If you have any thoughts of attending a graduate program in design down the road, this upcoming AIGA event might be a great way to see what students are doing at various schools.  At the SVA Theatre in NYC, students from MICA, NYU Interactive, Parsons, Pratt, RISD, the School of Visual Arts, Cranbrook and Yale will gather present their projects. Tickets are $10 for AIGA members, $30 for non-members.
